An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson
464 pages | Published by Ace

The Set Up: Lennon is invited to Drayton College, a secret school where students learn to control others and even physical matter. She’s quickly drawn in by the school and her mysterious advisor. As she learns more about the school and it’s history, she realizes the true cost of her power.
I had pretty high hopes for this one - it has complex characters, the feeling of dark academia, a bit of magic, and beautiful writing. The atmosphere was VERY Savannah - I could feel the humidity (ew lol) and see the Spanish moss.
The dynamic between Lennon and Dante was great, although as a romance reader I would have loved a BIT more of that. I know that’s not what this book is, but a little more romance never hurts in my opinion.
The ending of the story felt a bit flat for me, but I still enjoyed the story and definitely want to read more from this author.
