Fang Fiction by Kate Stayman-London
400 pages | Published by Dial Press

The Set Up: Tess works the night shift at a hotel and uses her favorite vampire novels as an escape to try and forget the assault that caused her to drop out of grad school. But one night one of the very not-fictional vampires of her books comes to her for help in saving her brother. Soon, Tess is transported to a secret island full of vampires, and learning that who she thought was the villain might actually be the good guy.
As a fangirl myself, I knew I HAD to read this one. Getting pulled into the world of your favorite story? COME ON!! It’s the dream!
I hope this make sense, but the vibe of this one reminded me of Adventures in Babysitting (??). A bit of a chaotic and unbelievable adventure in the big city. It was fun to go back and forth from Tess on the Isle and Joni in NYC.
I enjoyed all of the characters, but I really only felt connected to Tess. I wish we had gotten to know the other main characters a bit more. I thought she and Joni’s reactions to their circumstances felt so real and true to how any fangirl would react in this situation.
Something I loved about the writing was the mix of mediums. There were social media posts, podcast transcriptions, texts and emails, and selections from the Blood Feud books mixed in between the chapters. LOVE that.
Overall this one had a really nice mix of romance, adventure, and some emotional healing.
